Admission Procedures

The Office of Graduate and Continuing Education offers advising to both graduate and undergraduate evening students throughout the year. Students new to Worcester State College and all WSC degree students should see an advisor before registering for courses. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Thursday, 9am to 7 pm, and on Friday from 9am to 12pm.

Attendance

Non-attendance at class does not constitute dropping or withdrawing from the course and may result in a failing grade. Students are responsible for all course charges if no official drop or withdrawal form is on file with the Registrar.

Required Add/Drop or Withdrawal forms may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office, in the Gymnasium Building. During the Add/Drop period a student can drop a course without having that course appear on the official transcript.

During the Withdrawal Period a student may withdraw from a course and receive a "W" on his or her transcript. To drop or withdraw from a course the student must:

  • Obtain the proper form from the Registrar’s office
  • Request permission to drop or withdraw from the instructor
  • Submit the form with the instructor’s signature  to the Registrar

Adding or Dropping a Course

Registration on a Space-Available Basis is allowed until the class meets for the first time. You will need permission of the instructor and the Office of Continuing Education to add a course that has met once. You may not add a course that has met more than once.

Students may add/drop courses in accordance with the deadline published in the academic calendar. It is the student’s responsibility to return the completed form(s) to the Registrar’s Office. After the deadline, students wishing to drop a course must follow the procedure for withdrawal.

Course Cancellation

If the college finds it necessary to cancel courses or make schedule changes, every effort will be made to notify registered students.

Waivers

Some students are eligible for tuition waivers, such as MA senior citizens, veterans, and state employees. Such students will indicate a waiver status on their registration and mail or FAX supporting documentation to 508-929-8100. You are always welcome to come in to the Graduate and Continuing Education office to transact tuition waivers.
